When I was four, I didn’t even know about the world, and now me and ma are going to live in it forever and ever until we’re dead. This is a street in a city in a country called America, and earth. That’s a blue and green planet, always spinning, so I don’t know why we don’t fall off. Then, there’s outer space. There are so many things out here. And sometimes, it’s scary, but that’s okay, because it’s still just you and me.

mythology. zeus and hera

zeus fell in love with hera but she refused his first marriage proposal. zeus then preyed on her empathy for animals and other beings, created a thunderstorm and transformed himself into a little cuckoo. as a cuckoo, zeus pretended to be in distress outside her window. hera, feeling pity towards the bird brought it inside and held it to her breast to warm it. zeus then transformed back into himself and took advantage of her. hera, ashamed of being exploited, agreed to marriage with zeus. (requested)

Winters can be harsh, though starkly beautiful at Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska. Temperatures can be well below 0 degrees F by November, and on the winter solstice, Denali receives less than 5 hours of true daylight. Those who venture to the park in winter will find plenty to do – from skiing and winter biking to mushing and snowmobiling. Photo by Katie Thoresen, National Park Service.
